If your spouse wants it, you better do it, or they will struggle with sexual temptation and go find it somewhere else. That is about the sum total of what most people think the bible says about sex. God, in His word, addresses sexuality in a much deeper and finer way, so this entry is devoted to a beginning discussion on that. Many of you reading this text may have experienced reading books on sex or gone to marriage retreats where sex was one of the topics. For many, books and retreats discussing sex are discouraging and to be avoided. Lessons about how sex should be great, that everyone should be having great sex, and that you need to make your sex life great, can lead to hopelessness when things are not going well.

Perhaps the best book of the Bible about the joys of sex is the Song of Songs as it reminds us sex is strictly for marriage. God loves sex. I want them to look forward to it but remain pure. It is not limited to genital stimulation and the release of tension through a quick and simple orgasm. The more cosmic experiences utilizing sexual energy create ecstatic states. The essence of spiritual sex is enhanced awareness, extraordinary inspiration, and a sense of merging with the life force. But as culture continues to influence the church more than the church influences the culture, many Christ-followers have adopted the world view of sex. Even though it is one of the clearest prohibitions in Christianity, one would be hard-pressed to find scripture on it. It clearly states that sex before marriage is a part of the definition of sexual immorality.

No sex before marriage-When asked what the Bible has to say about sex, most people will have this response. However, when asked to provide exactly where this rule is listed in the Bible, the answer from many Christians is much less confident. My belief that premarital sex is sinful has been shattered.
God loves sex. In other words, rule the world and have lots of sex. Not a bad day at the office. Sex outside of marriage is one of the clearest, unquestionable prohibitions in Christianity. But where does the Bible teach this? Can you name a verse?
